July 10 - July 15th.
ALL ARE WELCOME
We all look forward to that time of year when the weather is hot, the ice cream is cold, and we all come together for VBS. Hillcrest always does such a great job of welcoming the children of our community for a week of Bible Study, Fun, Food, and Crafts. Let s ask God to help make 2011 the best VBS ever in our history.
"We have the opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of more children than ever before.
"Our teachers are ready.
"We have a Big Apple Adventure theme that promises to be lots of fun.
"Please pray that all will be done to honor Our Lord and that He will bless our efforts and our work.
If you would like to work in VBS, just let us know. There are always jobs to be done at the last minute. Don t forget family night, when our children showcase their work and we have the privilege of meeting the parents.
As always, I was so proud of our youth and their leaders. The mission trip went smoothly in spite of the extreme heat. Each young person pitched in willingly to do even the dirty unpleasant jobs. Their actions are a Christian witness to all those involved. The folks at the University of the Cumberlands could not say enough nice things about our team. So give them a pat on the back and thank them for representing Hillcrest so well.
Your Pastor,
Tony
THE CHOIR SOCIAL
At the end of each church year we have a party. I came up with the idea of having a progressive dinner for the choir.
I would like to thank Ann Rogers and Rhonda Hancock for opening their homes to us. We had a wonderful time at both homes and are so thankful for all their preparations for this wonderful social.
Ann Rogers did our appetizers, Rhonda Hancock did our Main course, and
Reta Burns did our desserts.
All three ladies did an excellent job in putting the food together for us.
Jennifer Smith even drove the church van for us so that we would be able
to keep the cars at each home to a minimum.
I think all of us in the choir would like to say thank you for hoisting such a successful event. Everyone had a great time.
I HOPE THAT YOU WILL CONSIDER JOINING OUR CHOIR.
There is always room for one more in every section of the choir. It would be great to have the problem of not having enough chairs for the sanctuary choir loft.
It was such a blessing to see Kayla Cliffe being baptized and then sing a solo at her baptismal service. I was so proud of her. Kayla and Rhonda have worked musically together for a good while
. THANK YOU for your testimony in being baptized and SINGING TOO!!!!!!
Please remember to pray for VBS which will be July 10 - 15.
On July 17th we will have a concert by a men s quartet. They are directed by a friend of mine, Mrs. Donna Bonner. I know that you will enjoy hearing them. This group calls themselves New Harmony Four. They will be singing gospel quartet music in our evening worship service.
Then it is on to our August nights. We are already booking groups to come in and sing for us each Sunday night.
Steve
